It’s hard to imagine how many olive trees are abandoned in Tuscany. As it characterizes the Tuscan skyline and one of our globally envied gastronomic excellence is extra virgin olive oil!
With the arrival of modernity in our lives, more and more people no longer want to take care of the land and its traditions. So, slowly the olive groves were abandoned.
There are 4 million abandoned olive trees in Tuscany that have become the mission of “Ager Oliva“. A company that was recently founded but with a great goal. Restore a dignified and productive life to all Tuscan olive trees!
Not an easy mission, but certainly ambitious and honorable!
I really like their project and I certainly embrace their cause which is very genuine. They offer the opportunity for all of us to adopt an olive tree, give it its name and receive its organic extra virgin olive oil at the end of the year.
It’s a project as simple as complicated, in fact there is a gigantic job behind it!
Upon adoption, Ager Oliva completely cleans the adopted olive tree. They freeing it from weeds and thorns, prunes it and offers it the care it needs with fertilizers. In line with the rules of organic and biodiversity. Subsequently in the autumn there will be harvesting and pressing. After a few weeks, just enough time to leave the last residues left in the oil to settle, filtering and so the oil will be ready. Then 2 liters of the best quality extra virgin olive oil will be sent directly to the home of the “parents” of the tree!
Their mission is immense. But continuing to carry on our traditions, honoring nature and taking care of the earth is a duty for us who live there. Therefore, the Ager Oliva project can only be loved and encourages us to adopt a small piece of Tuscany!
The Ager Oliva Team makes adoption available at a cost of € 49! With this money, in addition to doing something good to nature, you will receive 2 liters of extra virgin olive oil to bring a bit of Tuscany into your home!
